10551-B Cato Chief 5 lb Red Plastic Fire Extinguisher Cabinet, Surface Mount

The Cato 10551 is the Chief 5 lb plastic fire extinguisher cabinet in red, a dent proof and rust proof surface mount alternative to a steel cabinet, made in the USA. The tub and trim are injection moulded high impact polystyrene in .110 thickness with ultra-violet inhibitors for UV resistance. The acrylic front panel is grid scored so it breaks cleanly when struck with the break tool, and a security hexagonal lock with two keys holds the trim and panel in place.

Cato's own figures are the tub inside dimensions above. The Strike First and Amerex models listed are the ones whose published cylinder diameter clears the tub width and depth and whose overall height clears the tub height; the published width of a portable extinguisher includes its hose and handle, which sit beside the cylinder. Units marked tight fit have less than 1/4 inch to spare, so measure the extinguisher you actually own before ordering.

Mounting: the ADA standards for operable parts put the cabinet handle no higher than 48 inches above the finished floor, and an object whose leading edge sits between 27 and 80 inches above the floor may not project more than 4 inches into a circulation path.
