Common questions
How do I read a Cato model number?
The first digits are the series and size — 105-5, 105-10 and 105-20 are the Chief tubs, 95-5 and 95-10 are the Warrior. The letters after the dash are the opening method: -H hammer, -B stainless break bar, -P clear pull panel (Island Chief, MR safe), -Z hinged pull-to-open door. The middle digit changes with colour: 10501 is white, 10551 is red.
What size cabinet do I need?
Match the cabinet to the extinguisher, not the room. A 5 lb ABC unit goes in the 5 lb tub, a 10 lb unit in the 10 lb tub. If you are between sizes, go up: an oversized tub is only a cosmetic problem, an undersized one will not close.
Which opening method should I pick?
Break panel with hammer (-H) is the default and what most facilities already have. The stainless bar (-B) is harder to walk off with. The Island Chief pull panel (-P) has nothing to break and is MR safe. Pull to Open (-Z) is a hinged door with no panel at all.
Can I buy a case?
Yes. Chief cabinets nest 12 to a carton in 5 lb, 10 in 10 lb and 4 in 20 lb, and every Chief model page has an add-a-case button. Cato orders over $1,500 ship at half freight and over $3,000 at full freight, semi-recessed cabinets excluded.
