Cato Model Number Decoder
Read any Cato catalog number: prefix, series and size, tub and trim color, opening method, packaging and options, across Chief, Warrior and 220 covers.
A Cato catalog number is built in blocks. Once you know the blocks you can read any number on a price sheet or a submittal without looking it up.
Chief family: C + series + color + opening + packaging + options
Cato's own example is C10551-H.

Codes 02 and 52 — the red acrylic fronts — appear in the Chief order guide. The Island Chief and Pull to Open order guides offer 01, 13, 51 and 63 only, because their panels are clear-only by design.

Packaging
Cabinets come unassembled and bulk packed as the standard option, at the maximum per box the packaging standards allow. Add -I for individually assembled and packaged. Case packs on the price sheet are 12 per case for 5 lb, 10 for 10 lb, 4 for 20 lb.
One number to watch
The 8C price sheet lists Chief Pull to Open cabinets as 10506-Z, 10556-Z, 11006-Z and 11056-Z, while the Pull to Open submittal uses 10501-Z, 10551-Z, 11001-Z and 11051-Z for the same four cabinets. Quote the price-sheet number when you order and reference the submittal number on drawings, or confirm with us which one the warehouse is expecting.
Warrior: C + prefix + color combination
Cato's examples are C95552 and C95102-ET. The Warrior numbers a little differently at 5 lb and 10 lb.
5 lb — the prefix carries the tub color and the last two digits carry the cover:

-ET adds the rust prevention tray. There are no other Warrior options.
Classic Semi-Recessed: C410 + 01 + lock
Cato's example is C41001-L. Prefix 410 is the Chief Semi Recessed 10 lb; 01 is the only color, white tub, white trim, clear panel; the standard opening method is a pull handle with no suffix; -L adds a cylinder lock. On the price sheet the same two items appear as 41001 and 41001L. Options are ET for the tray and L for the lock.
220 alarm covers: ALC + 220 + mounting + opening + option
Cato's examples are ALC22012B and ALC22001B.

So ALC22012B is a surface-mount cover with a security break bar and a gasket. The price sheet uses the short forms: 22011 / 22011B (surface, pull to open, with and without gasket), 22001 / 22001C (recessed, pull to open), 22012 / 22012B (surface, break bar) and 22002 (recessed, break bar). Previous-generation numbers — 220-S, 220-SX, 220-R, 220-RX, 220-SB, 220-SBX, 220-RB — still show up on old drawings.
Parts and decals
Parts numbers track the cabinet they serve. In the Chief family the first three digits are the size — 105, 110 or 120 — and the last two identify the component: 03 tub, 05 trim and lock, 75 clear plexiglass, 65 red plexiglass, 95 clear pull panel. A -D suffix on a submittal means the part ships with its decal; a C before the size, as in 10575C, marks the Customizer trim-to-fit panel. Loose hardware runs on its own numbers: 10001W/R lock assemblies, 10006W/R hex keys, 10011W/R hammer assemblies, 10008SS stainless break bar, 10300 tray, 10603 Pull to Open handle, 95505 Warrior seal.
Decals all start CL-, and the number is the marking, not the cabinet: CL-401R/W the "FIRE" icon, CL-403 and CL-413 arrows, CL-412 "Fire Extinguisher" lettering, CL-415 "Break Panel", CL-416 "Felony Warning", CL-418 "Pull To Open", CL-422 "Extinguisher Missing", CL-95 the Warrior cover crime warning.
